Cultural Writer/ Marketing Internship
The Balboa Park Online Collaborative is seeking a tech-savvy, culturally aware university student for an unpaid internship, beginning in January 2010 or sooner.
A Project of the Benbough Operating Foundation, a nonprofit organization, the Balboa Park Online Collaborative is designed to fundamentally change the way cultural institutions approach the use of online technology. We facilitate the collaboration of 17 member institutions on a variety of web and technology based projects, including network infrastructure, web development, and collaborative educational projects.
We are looking for an intern with strong writing and multimedia skills and a prominent creative streak to help us produce new, exciting content about Balboa Park and our member museums and cultural institutions, including long- and short-form articles, video interviews, photography, reviews, and behind the scenes features. This intern must know how to use a website content management system and standard Windows or Mac software, including video and sound editing programs.

LAMP/CMS Internship
The Balboa Park Online Collaborative is seeking a university student for an unpaid internship (to start in January 2010 or sooner) with experience in CMS configuration, theming, and web development in a LAMP environment.
A Project of the Benbough Operating Foundation, a nonprofit organization, the Balboa Park Online Collaborative is designed to fundamentally change the way cultural institutions approach the use of online technology. We facilitate the collaboration of 17 member institutions on a variety of web and technology based projects, including network infrastructure, web development, and collaborative educational projects.
We are looking for an intern with CMS experience on a Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP platform. Experience using Amazon Web Services EC2 and S3 cloud computing technologies desired. Also required are an interest in the Balboa Park cultural community, a prominent creative streak, strong technical abilities, and a desire to put their skills to work in a nonprofit setting.
Depending on your skills and interests, you may be called upon to:
• build and configure Linux servers in the Amazon cloud and on VMware
• Install and configure Apache
• install and configure a CMS
• write PHP, CSS and HTML
• manage website content including images
• generate thoughtful creative input
• complete other tasks as assigned
